It prevents the hard drive from booting until the correct password is given.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Setting the bios &lt;strong&gt;Password Bypass&lt;/strong&gt; feature can make this feature harder to avoid.
